-Actively promote and model the Mission, Beliefs and Graduate Profile of IPS
-Provide planned instruction to students and daily monitoring of performance including corrective feedback
-Show knowledge and understanding of students and demonstrate skill in the subject areas taught
-Show written evidence of lesson plans
-Assess student achievement levels and provide differentiated instruction accordingly
-Develop Unit plans in collaboration with colleagues and give to Curriculum Coordinator
-Vary instructional techniques and materials to suit the learning styles, motivational levels, needs and capabilities of the students
-Develop and implement a set of classroom management rules that facilitate an excellent classroom learning environment
-Maintain control in the classroom and apply disciplinary measures in accordance with administrative policies and regulations
-Help in upholding and enforcing school rules and administrative regulations inside and outside the classroom
-Test and evaluate students, record grades, check and register attendance, send progress reports to parents and enter grades on report cards as specified by the administration
-Take all necessary safety and precautionary measures to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
-Supervise recess times according to the scheduled rota
-Report accidents to students to the office to insure proper treatment
-Consult with the Principal regarding individual student problems and be prepared to assist students with extra academic help outside regular classroom hours. This help is free of charge
-Submit report card grades according to the given timeline showing academic and effort grades.
-Discuss struggling students with Principal prior to sending out the report cards. Follow the detailed instructions regarding grade reporting prior to the end of each quarter
-Use the student planners to communicate with parents if appropriate. Ensure that students use their planners to record homework
-Keep accurate and complete records of all Parent Conferences, student conferences, behavior/ discipline incidents, extra student assistance etc;
-Supervise students out of the classroom as assigned by the administration
-Be available to accommodate parents and students seeking after school appointments. Attend all assigned parent conferences
-Maintain professional relationships with colleagues students and parents; safeguard privileged information about students, faculty members and administration
-Be responsible for receiving distributing and maintaining textbooks, study materials, teaching supplies and classroom equipment, and maintaining records of texts and other materials checked out to students and sending home a supply list in the first week of term for students to buy
-Attend and participate in all faculty meetings and general student assemblies and evening and weekend programs as appropriate
-Prepare a class assembly
-Participate in and show evidence of continuing interest in professional growth
-Accept responsibility for extracurricular activities and provide 2 after school clubs per year
-Collaborate with fellow staff members in sharing/exchanging instructional methods/approaches in the classroom
-Take an active part in selecting texts, equipment and other instructional material, and complete ordering procedures as directed by the administration
-Be in the classroom, work areas or duty station from 7:30 am until 4:00pm
-Take attendance for every class and maintain accurate attendance records
-Examine student records and accumulative files for information regarding past assessments
-Act as a role model to promote healthy eating
-Report gifts of substantial value to the administration and return to the giver
