Quality Team leader is In-charge of the Quality Assurance activities in the factory. He has to manage the Quality Assurance team in terms of all the required inputs, to deliver the proposed output in terms of safety, checking of raw materials, packaging materials, finished goods, spot checking on the shop-floor, variance detailing, trend analysis and maintaining data on the various parameters/variances, standard deviation, maintaining the standards, and issuance of revised standards, for the dates season, etc.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Safety—
o Responsible for implementation of all safety systems
o Chief Controller during Emergency Organization, to take care of any mishap occurring, making the relevant evacuation plans, etc.
o Ensuring the use of personal protective equipment during the shift.
o Planning related to the procurement and supply of personal protective equipment [PPE].
o To impart training related to safety needs.
o First Incidence Report, Follow-up reports, etc. to be prepared in case of any accidents/incidents.
o Counseling of the concerned employee involved in the accident/incident.
• Quality -
o Implement the agreed quality plan.
o Work with Production/Eng. for long standing quality issues.
o Assist the Production team for machine setting so as to achieve optimum quality product.
o Implement agreed maintenance plans so as to optimize product quality.
• Systems Related -
o Responsible for setting up product quality standards.
o Creating new product specifications in line with the customer requirements and converting the specifications into routine Quality checks and norms to be followed on the shopfloor.
o Handling the market complaints on products by assessing the nature of the complaint; addressing the issues from the QA perspective in order to minimize the recurrence.
o Consumables planning and budget monitoring.
o Implementation of housekeeping audit system.
o Making SOPs’ from the QA point of view and ensuring their implementation.
o Co-ordination with Warehouse in case of shortages / short supplies, defective raw material / finishing supplies, etc.; liaison with the Commercial / suppliers for the same.
o Attend daily/monthly meetings and explaining and implementation of policies.
o Ensuring all the support systems work satisfactorily so that the production from the lines does not stop.
o Qualitative analysis of competitors’ products on a regular basis and update records.
• Manpower -
o Monthly manpower deployment plan.
o Planning / Deployment of manpower in the shift.
o Versatility planning and implementation of the plan / multi-skilling.
o Personnel related matters such as sanctioning leaves of sub-ordinates. Performance Appraisals, etc.
o Maintain a record of all new recruits and monitor their monthly progress, make decisions regarding probation / confirmation.
o Overall discipline in the shift and grievance handling to be taken care of.
o Initiative during and social related activity.
o Institute a healthy work environment.
• Training -
o Identify training needs for the maintenance team members.
o Conduct and support training programmes.
• Documentation -
o Monthly quality data line-by-line.
o Noting the trends in the process and creating an awareness amongst the team members about the product quality and process stability / instability.
o Real time inspection report on a daily basis and also linewise.
o Nature of market complaints and analyses /rectification of systems to reduce the occurrence of the same.
