• Repairing outboard engines, inboard engines, inboard-outboard engines, boat steering systems, plumbing or propellers.
• Diagnose the problem, usually fairly quickly, and determine the course of the repairs needed. While many jobs only require one piece of equipment to be repaired or replaced, other problems require the entire engine to be taken apart and repaired.
• Performs maintenance on the engines of a particular boat. Some parts, such as spark plugs, pistons, valves, and bearings, may need to be replaced on a regular basis as they become worn. Depending upon the mechanic and the boat that he or she is working on, computers may also be used to diagnose problems as well as determine when maintenance should take place.
• Perform repairs on the boat or in a shop.
• Performed engine and electrical troubleshooting, repair and maintenance
• Performed exterior wash down and drying of exterior hull of the boat
• Assisting the captain in docking and UN-docking the boat for rope handling
• Check engine oil, transmission oil and water coolant level and if needed
• Prepare the boat and make sure all engine equipment is always ready for owner use
• Clean engine room to free from oil spill
• Check water pump impeller and cover, replace if needed
• Performed fuel and fresh water refilling
• Check electrical wiring and repair if needed
• Performed refrigerant charging to air-condition and freezer
• Performed maintenance on the air-con like cleaning the air filters and evaporator to enhance cooling
• Clean and inspect water strainer filter
• Check water hose and fittings for possible leak, replace or tighten if needed
• Change water pump impeller
• Monitor oil pressure and water temp. during underway to prevent damage to the engine
• Monitor running hours for right time engine change oil
