v JOB SUMMARY:
Plan, direct and manage the manufacturing process, providing the focus and leadership which will build and develop an effective team, which will maintain maximum safety, environmental, quality and production standards.
v KEY ACTIVITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
• The Assistant Plant Manager is directly responsible to the Plant Manager, responsible for achieving daily manufacturing schedule/output in line with standards.
• He is responsible for all safety management systems within the plant and ensuring that all relevant company standards and regulatory requirements are met.
•Ensuring that the quality of the product is to company and/or customer requirements.
•Reduce downtime and spoilage to minimum by leading daily Plant meetings and co-ordination with engineering, quality and lean functions.
•To investigate/follow-up on all process problems/potential problems. Ensure the necessary corrective actions are taken and maintained.
•To ensure all team members are trained/supervised to carry out their duties effectively and to highest standards of environmental impact minimization, safety and quality.
•To ensure that when team members fail to perform their duties effectively, corrective feedback is provided/recorded.
•To ensure all temporary workers are trained/supervised to carry out their assigned duties safely.
•Create an environment/team spirit, which will promote and maintain good industrial relations and safe working practices and good housekeeping.
•Management and maintenance of accident investigations and ensuring that corrective actions are implemented.
•Ensuring that safety risk assessments are regularly reviewed through the safety committee and communicated to all relevant persons.
v PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
•Continually review plant, methods and efficiency, ensuring modifications to equipment/methods are in accordance with company standards including safety and environmental standards.
•To ensure that all can production is consistent with established requirements in respect of structure and cleanliness.
•To ensure no can dispatches are made to customers which are below acceptable standards, both from aspects of product integrity or packaging.
•Co-ordinate the activities of the various plant functions to ensure the most effective utilization of resources, plant, materials and people.
•Promotion of stable I.R. climate by active involvement in people aspects of business.
•Development, implement and maintain suitable consultative and communication process for all employees.
•Implement and maintain continuous improvement programs/process including environmental, health and safety.
•Have a full knowledge and understanding of the Environmental Policy and the EMS.
•Ensure that all employees under their direct control fully understand their individual obligations.
•Promote consultation on all matters of concern with regard to environmental issues.
•Ensure that adequate arrangements exist, or are put in place, to cover the absence of those personnel with key environmental responsibilities.
•Ensure operational control procedures are appropriately implemented.
•Within the plant Business continuity management team, the Assistant Plant Manager has responsibility for manufacturing aspects of an incident. In addition he/she will have responsibility for H&S and Transport issues as well as acting as BCP coordinator in the absence of the Plant Manager and as a Supplementary BCMT member for Health & Safety
v CAPABILITY REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
•B.E., B.tech in Industrial/ mechanical/ production/ operations engineering.
•Preferably a post-graduate diploma (e.g. MBA in operations)
