Main purpose of job
To collect and process cash payments using manual and/or computer-
ized accountancy processes.
Main responsibilities
1. Collect, account for and bank cash received and issue receipts
using a computerized cash receipting process.
2. Maintain accurate financial records of cash collected, carrying
out regular balances of cash transactions and resolving any
discrepancies.
3. Reconcile cash transactions to general ledgers and bank state-
ments.
4. Provide information to customers in response to a wide variety
of enquiries and complaints to ensure that they receive the best
possible customer service.
5. Maintain all necessary records and information in a secure and
accurate manner to ensure that there is full information about cash
transactions.
6. Maintain regular contact with internal accounting staff and banks
to receive and pass on relevant information.
7. Take all necessary security precautions to ensure that cash is held
in a safe and secure manner.
