Construct data accumulation systems for a cost accounting system
Create and review the controls needed for data accumulation and reporting systems
Planning, Studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor.
Analyzing data collected and recording results
Analyzing changes in product design, raw
materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost
Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and
preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
Prepare, analyze and report weekly, monthly,
quarterly gross margin analysis by brand by customer type
Assist in month-end closing, prepare journal
entries as necessary, analyze inventory evaluation, inventory roll forward
Review and analyze inventory and margin reports, conduct research and perform
analytical studies in regards to cost analyses and profitability
Collecting cost information and maintaining an
expenses database
Provide financial support to other functional areas of the Company:
- Manufacturing - works with the plant manager
and production staff to identify cost savings projects, analyzes and forecasts the impact on the cost structure if implemented, and assists in the development of the business case-cost-benefit analysis for capital investments.
- Inventory Control –investigates inventory adjustments resulting from periodic cycle counts and annual physical inventory.
- Purchasing - analyzes purchase price variances & monitors material price trends to support price negotiations with vendors
Develop and maintain cost accounting system, documentation, and records
Review costs for all external inventory, labor, and material purchases
Prepare and complete internal cost audits
Review and document inventory and material
purchases
