1. Principal Objective:

Provides technical advice, guidance and recommendations to air quality monitoring section as well as other sections (marine, water, hazardous waste) if needed, through preparing and reviewing technical reports, on-site inspections, sample collection and testing

2. Organizational Relationship:

Receives administrative and technical direction in terms of broad project objectives from Environmental Protection and Control Department Director and Monitoring section manager. Occasional contacts with senior management and industries representatives

3. Major Activities and Responsibilities:

• Provides technical advice and recommendations to execute the overall air quality monitoring program requirements including sampling, testing and preventive maintenance, calibration and regular QA/QC checks on the AQMS stations. Ensure sufficient work on the AQMS stations. Give recommendations for ordering calibration gases, new equipment and support.


• Reviews and evaluates all required technical reports and studies (such as environmental impact studies and self-monitoring report).


• Assists and develops an air quality monitoring program to ensure its in line with international requirements and RCER 2015 requirements.


• Conducts field inspections to ensure the compliance of industries with the RC standards and regulations.


• Evaluates industries pretest plan / SOW for stack testing and fugitive emission.


• Witnesses the stack testing and fugitive emission tests that to be conducted by RC approved consultants to ensure their compliance with the RC requirements.


• Participates in periodic revision of RC Environmental regulations and standards and implement the same in line with Kingdom’s laws, international regulations and standards and best practices.


• Evaluates the operation of various pollution control systems installed by industries; monitors and resolves issues relating to environmental monitoring management.


• Capable prepare technical reports on the status of air quality and meteorological findings at the city, establish a chronological order of quality and advises management of reasons for trends in decline or improvement.


• Evaluates the impact of air source pollution on ambient air based on stack testing results/calculation and air ambient monitoring using US EPA approved Air Dispersion Models.


• Performs other related duties as assigned or directed by the RC.
