- To work in the role of Business Line Manager/Project Manager.
Typical responsibilities of the geotechnical engineer include: - Excellent report writing skills
- Project management
- Gathering and analyzing data
- Risk assessment, geological hazard identification and management
- Using specialist computer software to create analytical 2D and 3D models
- Consulting geological maps and aerial photographs to devise geological maps of sites collating all information sources
- Assisting with the design of built structures, using specialised computer software or calculations
- Planning and managing detailed ground investigations by drilling and undertaking in-situ testing and analyzing samples of deposits or bedrock
- Supervising ground investigations and managing budgets
- Advising on and testing a range of construction materials and assessing remedial measures and options
- Managing staff, including other engineering geologists, geotechnical engineers, consultants and contractors
- Working with and liaising with other disciplines including civil, structural engineers and clients
- Analyzing designs and contributing to options
