Duties and Responsibilities
· Abides by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff and those specific to the department/division.
· Provides the highest standard of medical care for patient for whom he/she is responsible.
o To cover ICU (as applicable) whenever instructed by the Director/Head of Anesthesia and according to his approved clinical privileges.
o Takes part in the education of all staff assigned to work in Anesthesia and ICU (as applicable) and prepares material used for teaching and contributes to educational activities of the hospital.
o Participates in the improvement of quality of patient care (Total Quality Management Programme, Quality Assessment Improvement Programme) as applicable.
o Participates in the on-call duties as required by the department/divisions.
o Fulfills the requirements of the Saudi Council for Health Specialties with regard to continuing medical education.
o Participates in meetings and continuing medical education for the Anesthesia Department/Division, Recovery Room and ICU staff (as applicable).
o Participates in the planning and further developments in the department/division.
o Strives to improve his clinical expertise as well as standard of practice with regard to morbidity and cost effectiveness.
o Serves on hospital committees as requested
o Participates in and/or actively supports approved research projects.
o Deputies for his superior as requested and shares workload in his specialty during the absence of his colleagues.
o Participates in the Major Disaster Plan of the hospital, as indicated. 3.15. Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities, within the hospital and/or affiliated medical facilities
