Duties and Responsibilities:
3.2. Accept/complete assignments as directed by the director of Ophthalmology.
3.3. Demonstrate cooperative working behavior in optometry and other services to see a maximum number of patients per clinical session.
3.4. Provide direct guidance to optometry staff and handle/deal with day to day operation issues of the Optometry services.
3.5. Perform accurate clinical services and properly document, finding in accordance with RMH
Optometry standards.
3.6. Identify and communicate patients' ocular/refractive and contact lens problems to the referring physician.
3.7. Deal with patients' concerns and uses his/her best judgment to handle then in a prompt and professional manner.
3.9. Assess patients and their families' educational needs and implement patient/family teaching programme, as appropriate.
3.10. Ensure proper documentation of all clinical and general in information/activity /intervention related to involved patients.
3.1 1. Maintain a high degree of general and clinical expertise in
Ophthalmic/Optometric/Ophthalmologic terminology, procedures and concepts.
3.12. Attend the departments lecture as well as other educational programs, including ophthalmologist symposia to maintain a clinical ophthalmological knowledge base.
3.13. Assume responsibility for his/her continuing education and professional development.
3.14. Coordinate intern students training programs and effectively communicate with the clinical tutor of the department to complete their training schedule in other division in a timely manner.
3.15. Participate in developing and presenting appropriate optometric related education program to the department.
3.16. Promote and maintains effective communication processes of the optometry services and within OPD.
3.17. Demonstrate cooperative behavior and provide assistance to others in optometry the OPD as necessary, appropriate and /or directed and maintain Optometry services area(s) in good order.
3.18. Promote active, integrative communication process with patients, visitors, physicians and
other staff
3.19. Share concerns, comments, suggestions etc, effective with Head of Ophthalmology.
3.20. Reports housekeeping and/or safety concerns to appropriate RMH resources and follow-up to ensure appropriate corrective action is affected and maintains. Optometry services areas in compliance with infection control and environmental rounds standards.
3.21. Maintain proper medications in exam room to ensure adequate supplies and that all medications are not outdated and/or expired.
3.22. Maintain general, printed and patient education materials and supplies in exam room to meet patient care and coordinates with Patients Education Department in order to do so.
3.23. Maintain Optometry services areas in compliance with infection control and environment rounds standards.
3.24. Keep the In-charge of the Optometry Division informed of the quality issues needing further attention.
3.25. Continually reviews Optometry operations and activities and recommends operational improvements to the in-charge of the optometry division.
3.26. Participate in investigation of identified issues, concerns, complaints and/or suggestions regarding optometry operations and activities as directed by the in-charge of the Optometry division.
3.27. Participate in formal optometry performance improvement activities as assigned.
3.28. Perform all other duties in a professional, effective, and confidential manner.
