Duties and Responsibilities
Ensures through his/her actions, either directly or indirectly, that a superior quality of medical treatment, compassion and understanding is given to every patient served at the Prince Sultan Cardiac Center.
Responsible for ensuring the safe, effective and rational use of drug therapy in assigned area/s including the dispensing and monitoring of prescribed medications.
Responsible for ensuring that prescribed drug therapies are appropriate with respect to each individual patient’s age, weight, disease state(s) and laboratory parameters.
Effectively communicates with staff on matters related to drug therapy and the provision of Pharmacy services at PSCC and recommends drug therapy treatment plans to the appropriate prescribes.
Prepares and presents educational materials that promote the safe, effective and rational use of medications within PSCC.
Reviews, compounds, dispenses and monitors prescribed medications to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of therapy.
Supervises Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Aides within the Department to ensure that medications are packaged, prepared, dispensed and delivered accurately and appropriately.
Provides counseling and drug information to patients, families and staff regarding the correct use and storage of medications, as well as other relevant information regarding potential side effects and/or drug interactions with prescribed drug therapies.
Participates in Total Quality Management (TQM) improvement programs of the department and PSCC as a whole and offers suggestions to improve the delivery of quality patient care services.
Ensures that all applicable policies and procedures are followed, including those related to the security, documentation and handling of narcotics and scheduled drugs.
Maintains own personal and professional competence by participating in continuing education programs within pharmacy practice.
Prepares reports related to medication use at PSCC as required by the Director of Pharmacy Services.
Serves on PSCC committees as requested.
Performs other related duties as required.
Education/ Licensure:
Essential: Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from recognized university.
Essential: Valid registration in the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties as pharmacist.
Essential: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Professional Experience
Essential: Recent Pharmacy graduate for Saudis
Desirable: One (1) year experience for Saudis
