We are seeking an experienced Planning Director / Project Controls Director to lead planning, scheduling, project controls and performance management across a portfolio of major construction and infrastructure projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and managing integrated planning and project control systems, monitoring project performance, providing strategic guidance to project teams, and ensuring projects are delivered in line with approved scope, schedule, budget and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Planning & Project Controls function across multiple construction and infrastructure projects.
- Develop and implement integrated project planning, scheduling and control systems.
- Establish project baseline schedules, WBS, progress measurement systems and reporting structures.
- Lead planning activities using Primavera P6 and other project-control systems.
- Monitor project progress, critical paths, milestones, productivity and schedule performance.
- Identify delays, risks and potential schedule impacts and develop recovery/mitigation strategies.
- Lead EOT, delay analysis, disruption and claims-related planning activities.
- Review contractors' and subcontractors' schedules, updates and recovery programmes.
- Establish and monitor project budgets, cost forecasts and cash-flow projections in coordination with Commercial and Finance teams.
- Implement Earned Value Management (EVM/EVA) and project performance KPIs.
- Prepare executive-level dashboards, project performance reports and management presentations.
- Lead planning and project controls teams, including Planners, Schedulers and Cost Controllers.
- Coordinate with Project Directors, Construction, Engineering, Commercial, Procurement and Finance teams.
- Support tender/pre-award planning, project mobilisation and development of baseline programmes.
- Review contractual requirements and ensure planning deliverables comply with project and contract obligations.
- Implement project controls procedures, systems and best practices across the organisation.
- Support FIDIC-based contract administration, variations, claims and dispute resolution through accurate planning and project records.
- Develop and implement digital project controls and ERP integration where required.
- Provide strategic recommendations to senior management regarding project performance, delays, resource requirements and corrective actions.
