JOB SUMMARY
To utilize principles of adult learning, novice to expert learning and cultural congruent care in a culturally diverse health care environment while functioning as a teacher and researcher in educational process.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for providing continuing education programming for nursing based on the needs assessment annually, implements the educational plan(s) by deadline and maintains flexible approach and responds to newly identified needs in addition to plan.
2. Participate in the develops an educational plan for each department of responsibility, in partnership with nurse leaders and physicians, based on the needs assessment annually, key performance indicators, sentinel events and opportunity reports to promote safe patient care.
3. Provides a comprehensive orientation program for all new members of nursing services
4. Participate in the development of training materials and curriculums of educational programs.
5. Actively pursues new developments in education and training methodology and participates in activities which contribute to professional growth and development
6. Collaborates with administrative and clinical personnel in identifying the learning needs of individuals and groups.
7. Incorporating available internal and external standards, evidence-based practice and research findings into ward/unit-based, classroom-learning and simulation education.
8. Conduct individual assessment upon request and develops an educational action plan in collaboration with the dead nurse/designee and nurse.
9. Participating in the evaluation of nurse preceptor candidates and supports the development of nurses in the Preceptor role.
10. Participate with nurse leaders and physicians to develop education programs based on key performance indicator data, sentinel events and opportunity reports to promote safe patient care.
11. Creating opportunities for learners to engage in critical thinking and critical reasoning skills related to holistic patient and family centered care.
12. Maintaining education records for areas of responsibility.
13. Support nurse leaders in the development of policies, procedures and clinical pathways.
14. Promoting and participating in the professional development of Saudi Arabian nurses.
15. Supporting the organization and Nursing Affairs in the achievement of strategic goals and objectives.
16. Perform other assigned tasks relevant to this function.
