Basic Function:
The security administrator will be responsible for all aspect of network security including
administration of firewalls, IDS, network/systems hardening, and administering in a regulated
environment. Typical responsibilities include firewall/router configuration, system and network
device security, maintain IDS and monitor systems/network for security. This individual
ensures that security hardware and software adhere to organizational standards and will
work with senior administrators on complex assignments.
Act as the front line support for all operational security related issues such as: Virus
outbreaks, Intrusion events, System vulnerability identification, Web content events, SPAM
filtering and Laptop encryption. Will work closely with the network and systems teams as well
as other departmental employees to troubleshoot security issues.
Responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data and systems.
In addition, the Information Security Administrator will review systems for effective security
measures, which includes analyzing and designing security systems, documents, and
requirements throughout the enterprise. The Information Security Administrator will also
perform adherence testing and support and promote quality assurance, while delivering
excellent customer service at various levels.
Key Accountabilities:
# Is responsible for the security of the network
# Concentrates on the network design and security, particularly troubleshooting and/or
debugging network-related problems.
# Rolling out new equipment, as well as performing corrective and preventative measures on
existing equipment.
# Maintenance of the network’s authorization infrastructure, as well as network backup
systems.
# Assigning IP addresses to the devices connected to the networks.
# Routing protocols and routing table configuration assignment.
# Configuration of authentication, authorization and directory services.
# Maintenance of network facilities in individual machines, such as drivers and settings of
personal computers as well as printers etc.
# Maintenance of network servers such as file servers, VPN gateways, intrusion detection systems, etc.
# Deals with patching systems where necessary as well as locking down systems so that
only authorized personnel can access and use them.
# A sound understanding of network operating systems, network equipment and networking
protocols.
# Basic ability to program scripts and batch files.
# Strong interpersonal skills to understand the networking needs and problems of users.
# Strong knowledge of configuring CISCO Core switches, PoE Switches, NAT’ing and
configuring Routers wherever necessary
# Sound knowledge of CISCO Core Switches 45xx series.
# Good Knowledge of Fiber networks
Inatallation and configuration knowledge of all type if Wifi facilities including controllers
# Installation and sound knowledge of Sonic, Juniper Firewalls and Bluecoat Proxies
# Knowledge of DR Site, installations must. Prior experience would be an added advantage
