To develop good relations with Healthcare Providers, ensuring that Provider network coverage meets member demand both in terms of health service requirements and geographical location, whilst also taking into account of pricing and quality standards.
Resposibilites :
• To lead and direct the Provider Affairs team, ensuring that all aspects of its delivery are successfully and productively coordinated
• To support the Provider Affairs supervisors in respect of their allocated specialist work areas, ensuring high productivity and providing additional advice and approval as required
• To oversee and contribute as necessary to negotiations for preparation and authorization of new Provider contracts and Provider renewal contracts, always being mindful of balancing the twin elements of cost and quality
• To sign off new Provider contracts ensuring that all standard section details have been properly addressed and that negotiated terms are likely to produce appropriate levels of profit
• To oversee and support section working on day to day provider relations, including complaint investigations and informal courtesy contacts, taking note of business trends and corresponding business risks or opportunities so that productive approaches can be replicated elsewhere
• To supervise and approve the work of the Provider Affairs Accounts section in respect of payments reconciliations and final settlements, paying particular attention to timeliness and accuracy of processing and total financial outlay projections
• To take special interest and responsibility in cases of provider contracts and negotiations of significant importance, volume or complexity, often working alongside relevant supervisors or other members of the Provider Affairs team
• To report to Senior Management on the network of Provider partners and the work of the Provider team as required, noting changes in market conditions and treatment availabilities and overseeing monitoring of changes in treatments and trends
• To negotiate contract terms directly with Providers, seeking always to obtain best market price related to quality of service
• To reduce long-term costs by watching carefully for provider dominance in key areas and seek to develop competition by supporting and encouraging alternative providers
• To support the sales team by providing a response to ad hoc requests on the construction of quotations and highlighting possibilities for more competitive customer rates, Through the means of periodic planned and unannounced checks,
• to ensure that Provider performance meets contract standards and to serve as a check on possible fraud
• To select, direct, develop, coach and motivate supervisors and staff within Policy Admin dept. in order to optimize their skills, performance and potential
• To ensure that all staff appraisals are completed and countersigned as necessary within specified timescales
