A leading Utilities and Infrastructure Holdings company seeks a Senior Contracts Manager to oversee legal correspondence, handle arbitration and litigation and manage claims for projects, to be based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Client Details
The company is a leading project development group in the region, handling multiple large-scale and green-field projects in infrastructure, utilities and power generation. It is currently overseeing one of the largets power plant projects in the world, which will be sufficient to power 4 cities in the area in Saudi Arabia, which is leading energy consumption in the region.
Description
A Senior Contracts Manager would be expected to:
- Working to expert knowledge of contracting concepts, Uniform Commercial Code, applicable public contract acquisition law and regulations, and applicable international contract law- Handle litigation and arbitration cases as and when required- Working to excellent knowledge of corporate policies and procedures, coupled with ability to identify required improvement to established policies- Determining applicability of contract clauses and special provisions- Review and evaluation of proposal estimates and related cost and pricing data- Analysis and review of awarded contracts- Review of proposal documents to ensure contractual correctness and compliance with regulations, directives, laws, statutes, and contracting policies- Determination of appropriate contracting methods and contract types- Plan projects to a level of detail appropriate to the scope of work, usually based upon the long term master program, and a detailed fortnightly or weekly program- Ensure that procurement and reconciliation of materials is carried out in accordance with company procedure- Ensure that the site teams comply with the company's commercial policies and procedures as laid out in the Management Handbook- Ensure that a commercial plan for the successful commercial delivery of the project is in place- Monitor contract performance against plan, controlling budget, turnover and profit- Implement the risk management process, review risk register and check risk controls on contract- Review work packages and ensure scope of work is clearly defined and understood- Advise team on matters affecting project success, analysis of schedule, and cost impacts- Interpretation and communication of applicable government procedures and regulations- Review Requests for Proposals and Requests for Information for legal provisions and document exceptions taken pursuant to company policies- Serve as a knowledgeable resource on company policies and procedures
Profile
The ideal candidate for the role of Senior Contracts Manager would have:
- 10+ years of experience with contracts management, in a leadership role- In-depth experience working with large-scale power projects of high complexity is a MUST- Extensive legal knowledge of how contracts are set up and negotiated- Extensive project-oriented knowledge to understand and represent the company with technical backing- Experience with preparing an arbitration case and leading it - having won one is a plus- Strong character and communication skills- Strong negotiation skills and ability to represent the organisation's interest- Legal/Technical Degree essential
