Job Purpose (Summary Statement of the Job):
Manage and assist the Grocery Dept. in providing maximum availability and display of goods according to the Company standards.
Job Tasks (Accountabilities):
Organize and control the rotation and replenishment of stock to ensure maximum availability of products for customer purchase.
Rotate and replenish dry goods, cleaning shelving and checking ticketing to display goods to company standards.
Correct faults of merchandiser in displaying items as identified, by rotating, checking and cleaning as required to meet company standards of display.
Control the quality of goods on the shop floor to ensure that statutory and company standards are achieved.
Ensure that all products are bar coded before display.
Consult the Computer Operator for Grocery to ensure that targets for sales, availability and stock loss are achieved.
Code checking grocery items on sale to make sure they are correctly rotated and within their shelf-life.
Identify short life products, under the guidance of supervisor, remove it from display and transfer to reductions area as necessary in order to minimize losses. Check accuracy of shelf-edge labels and report errors to Deputy Store Manager.
Control Warehouse stocks which are coded but have a limited shelf life and refer any code problems to Deputy Store Manager.
Checking the receptions and Warehouse to ensure they are operating in accordance with company policies and procedures, providing an efficient cost-effective service to his department.
Assist with the adjustment or implementation of display layouts, under supervision of Deputy Store Manager, to ensure a good display and comply with company procedures and standard of display.
Ensure that all price and advertising materials are accurate and displayed in accordance with company and statutory requirements.
Check the levels of products on display, complete order sheet and assemble goods for replenishment.
Under the supervision of Deputy Store Manager, order stock (direct supply) using the relevant systems and completing the necessary documentation to meet sales demands.
Managing staff through scheduling, staffing, attendance and holiday planning.
Ensure that staff appearance meet company standards.
Treat customers at all times in a courteous helpful and efficient manner so as to provide a friendly and attractive shopping environment.
Managing the current performance management process to ensure that the system are actively used to train, coach and develop the knowledge and the skills required by both job holder and colleagues to perform their duties effectively and accordance with Company standards.
To ensure working hours are scheduled within the department allocations.
Organizing staff training of new staff and completion of follow up training encouraging and helping staff with any operational problems to ensure staff performance meet company standards.
Ensuring that all statutory and Company Regulations regarding Hygiene, Fire, Health and Safety and store security are followed to protect customers, colleagues and business interests of the company and where appropriate hold to license for the store in order to sell products.
To report any shortcomings in the business to the line manager.
Carry out established duties when acting as a Duty Manager to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Department
