Jobs Research Economist - Islamic Development Bank (IDB) in Saudi Arabia
Department:
To conduct applied research and studies on economic development issues relevant to the various initiatives/activities of IDB; To provide intellectual input and insight on all economic issues, informing on operational issues and economic policy at global, regional and member country level.
Person:
* Participate in preparation of the annual work program while monitoring and generating department level report on its implementation.
* Collect, analyse and process information on various economic issues.
* Undertake applied and policy economic analysis and research relevant to IDB mission and mandate.
* Analyse research proposals, research papers and reports to ensure adherence to guidelines.
* Contribute to various policy studies and research initiatives in the Complex/entity/Department.
* Evaluate and apply various sampling techniques that may be used to conduct different types of surveys.
* Develop and use various econometric modelling techniques to develop forecasts.
* Provide technical support in all phases of research projects, including problem solving on economic complex issues, project and sector/economic strategy; handles complex cross-department and cross-sectoral problems.
* Monitor research project implementation and progress to ensure adherence to guidelines.
* Coordinate with crosscutting operational teams, international experts, etc. to discuss ideas on key economic issues and strategic priorities.
* Provide technical advice and support to cross-department initiatives of IDB Group on the relevant economic issues.
* Prepare and contribute to IDB publications and flagship reports such as Occasional Papers, IDB Annual Report, Working papers Series, as well as concept notes and proceedings of organized events, namely, Expert Group Meetings, Symposia, seminars and workshops.
* Prepare and contribute to flagship publications, such as Occasional Papers, Working Paper Series, Annual report, Islamic Economic and Finance Policy Paper, Islamic Finance Country report and Knowledge Review.
* Prepare policy briefs, research notes, current information notes on global, regional and member countries' development topics.
* Contribute to developing policies on various sectors and themes of the Bank.
* Contribute to and prepare the statements and speeches of the Management.
* Support the Complex/entity/Department as needed with advisory services in enhancing its research profile.
* Participate in initiatives at the country and sector level to establish an operational framework and approach to knowledge dissemination and/or development of knowledge products.
* Participate and contribute to the dissemination of knowledge through publication of research papers/findings in professional journals and contribution to Community of Practice.
* Prepare and present periodic reports to keep the seniors abreast of the latest developments in the economics fields of relevance to Bank's core activities.
* Write various non-technical reports on economic trends and forecasts to inform the press and public.
* Assist in the preparation of the Complex/entity/Department Annual report.
