Jobs Research Senior Economist - Islamic Development Bank (IDB) in Saudi Arabia
Department:
To independently conduct original research and analysis on macroeconomic and/or sector policy issues of relevance to IDB mission and mandate.
Person:
* Contribute to annual departmental work plan and research activities by providing input and initiatives.
* Participate in and contribute to the preparation of the Bank's Strategy on macroeconomic and/or sector policy issues of relevance to IDB mission and mandate.
* Conduct applied research papers and analytical work on wide-ranging macroeconomic and/or sector issues.
* Participate in policy dialogue missions and prepare analysis of macroeconomics and/or sector policy issues, leading to client engagement and IDB financed projects.
* Conduct national diagnostic studies related to member countries' economies and keep the Bank informed of developments and prospects.
* Conceptualize, design, and implement findings/policy recommendations with credible analysis and tools to major tasks, including through leading and participating in task teams of lending and non-lending operations.
* Prepare policy briefs, issues papers, research notes, current information notes on development topics.
* Contribute to the body of Economics knowledge through managing and delivering high quality economic reports, or equivalent assignments distilling operationally relevant recommendations/lessons.
* Prepare and contribute to IDB publications, such as Occasional Papers, flagship reports and the IDB Annual Report as well as to organizing events, such as Expert Group Meetings, IDB Symposia and workshops.
* Prepare and contribute to flagship publications, such as Occasional Papers, Working Paper Series, Annual report, Islamic Economic and Finance Policy Paper, Islamic Finance Country report and Knowledge Review.
* Support in the development of policies on various sectors and themes of the Bank.
* Keep current on the current debates, issues, and approaches in the global trends and thinking on growth and poverty reduction as well as the Bank policies and practices related to lending and non-lending operations.
* Prepare statements, speeches and power point presentations for the management, to deliver to internal and external audiences.
* Represent the Complex/entity/department in inter-departmental meetings and the Bank in regional conferences, seminars and workshops.
* Disseminate research results to policy makers, practitioners, researchers and academics, highlighting possible policy implications and recommendations in implementation.
* Assist in identification and adaptation of best practices, methodologies and tools based on identification of lessons learned in thematic areas of specialization.
* Build networks with operational departments for disseminating research findings, discussing policy issues, and developing joint research activities.
* Represent the Department in inter-departmental meetings, and Bank's regional conferences and seminars.
* Prepare and present regular progress reports to keep the Director/Management fully abreast of the latest developments and trends in the area.
* Prepare briefs and provide policy advice on specific issues to the management.
