Jobs Research Lead Economist - Islamic Development Bank (IDB) in Saudi Arabia
Department:
To lead and conduct high-quality economic research and analytical work; provide intellectual input in the policy research aspects related to IDB mandate and activities.
Person:
* Ensure proper drafting and consolidation of annual plans and budget for approval by division manager.
* Conceptualize and lead the preparation of proposals to update periodically a research strategy for the Department and Bank, defining priorities and key issues.
* Lead teams on complex analytical work and tasks, and provide guidance and intellectual input for economic studies and regional economic outlooks.
* Lead the technical preparation of publications, flagship reports and major CEC/IRTI organizing events (Symposia, Expert Group Meetings, seminars and workshops).
* Liaise with IDB departments and entities to share economic knowledge and ensure that research findings of the Chief Economist Complex/IRTI feed into the operations activities of IDB Group.
* Provide high quality research and high-impact analytical work on complex economic development issues in member countries.
* Lead economic work on binding constraints to economic growth and development in member countries.
* Oversees the preparation of flagship publications, such as Occasional Papers, Working Paper Series, Annual Report, Islamic Economic and Finance Policy Paper, Islamic Finance Country Report and Knowledge Review.
* Keep abreast of current developments in the field of international development economics/Islamic Economics/Islamic Finance to identify challenges and assess their risks on member countries.
* Develop timely and distinctive IDB responses to global and regional issues affecting member countries.
* Assess the current policies on wide-ranging economic issues and propose modifications to suit IDBG mission and mandate.
* Develop, guide and disseminate economic work on national economies, forecast future trends and recommend policy options.
* Assume the role of research catalyst for interested economists and mentor junior economists.
* Ensure that key topics from the stakeholders' perspective are incorporated in the analytical work program of the Department
* Develop plans for dissemination of strategies and policy recommendations identifying target audiences and appropriate communication mediums.
* Identify best practices, and prepare methodologies and tools based on identification of lessons learned in thematic areas of specialization.
* Encourage the sharing of economic knowledge across the regions in which IDBG operates.
* Liaise with other departments within IDBG as well as other international and regional development institutions in sharing and disseminating research information and to produce high-quality economic research.
* Collaborate with concerned departments in the IDBG, other multilateral developments banks (MDBs) and stakeholders for generating operationally relevant knowledge and new insights in selected areas.
* Represent IDB/IRTI in high level international and regional fora on global economic/Islamic Economics/Islamic Finance issues and prospects.
* Oversee preparation and produces a range of key/high quality policy papers, regional studies, operational reports, specific/critical BED Reports, BOG Reports, and oversee and provide the lead role in the write-up of the Annual Report and other IDB/IRTI flagship reports as the main public/selling documents to focal points and policy makers.
* Oversee the collection and analysis of data/information related to the wide-ranging developmental economic issues, current economic trends and practices, and updates.
