Accountabilities:
Responsibilities for strategic financial planning & Budgetary Control:
• Heading finance functions involving determination of financical objectives, designing & implementing systems, policies & procedures to facilitate internal financial control
• Designing strategies for maximizing profitability & revenue generation aligned to realize corporate goals
• Formulating budgets and conducting variance analysis to determine difference between projected & actual results and implementing corrective actions
Responsible for accounts & audit:
• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements by way of monthly closing
• Responsible for analyzing and presenting periodic financial statements, MIS reports and budgets to the higher management and helping them in taking right business decisions. Monitoring financial accounting and control systems for sales, purchases, payroll & opex.
• Finalization of accounts and coordinating with statutory and tax auditors and income tax consultants
Managing commercial operations:
• Cash flow management by way of planning for payments to vendors, rentals & utility payments etc
• Monitor and review key value drivers and overheads to optimize cost
Responsible for risk management
• Understand and mitigate key elements of the company’s risk profile
• Monitor all open legal issues involving the company, and legal issues affecting the industry
• Ensure maintenance of appropriate insurance coverage
• Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements
• Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies
• Responsible for reporting risk issues to the audit committee of the board of directors
• Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations
Responsible for financing & fund raising:
• Prepare business plans, periodical cash flow & budgets; ensure proper cash flows so that cash is available for operations and projects
• Raise funds through equity route / capital markets /banks to structure and ensure financial closure by arranging debt and equity for the project, bringing to investors and getting the loans (long term and working capital) sanctioned from banks / financial institutions
• Overlook preparation of project application and various other forms for raising loans as aforesaid and other purposes
• Manage relationship with investors and bankers and financial institutions and make presentations for obtaining loans for projects and working capital
• Represent the company with investment bankers and investors
Responsible for handling taxation & treasury:
• Ensure adherence to and resolution of all tax related issues including income tax, and other taxes as applicable in respective countries in the African region
• Monitoring monthly / quarterly tax returns, and finalization of accounts and coordination with statutory and tax auditors and income tax consultants
• Responsible for the company’s present financial condition, to decide how to invest the company’s money, taking into consideration risk and liquidity
People management responsibilities:
• Accomplishing organizational objectives by taking part in selection, orientation, training, scheduling & disciplining employees
• Communicating job expectation, planning, monitoring, appraising and reviewing job contributions, enforcing policies & procedures
Others
• To suggest methods to improve productivity of the business
• Analysis of monthly MIS on project level / company level profitability, and analysis of data for overall cost reduction
