Job Summary
The Internal Audit Manager is responsible for professional and administrative work assisting the Head of Internal Audit. Under the general direction of the Head of Internal Audit, the Internal Audit Manager provides guidance, supervision, and assistance to audit staff involved in performing professional-level audit work. The Internal Audit Manager ensures that audits address areas of concern relative to the goals, performance objectives, and impact of a variety of economic, financial, and managerial programs in conformance with the Sunbulah policies and procedures or sound business practices where no policies exist. Work is reviewed for attainment of objectives through conferences and reports.
- Principal Duties and Responsibilities :
Supervise the internal audit assigned to determine whether or not risks are controlled appropriately and to ensure compliance with relevant department’s policies and procedures.
Supervises implementation of the Internal Audit Department policies and procedures, and ensure that the scope of audits are clearly identified and conveyed to his subordinates; estimates resource needs; schedules and assigns work to meet completion dates.
Interprets policies and procedures and applies professional accounting and auditing principles and standards to test and evaluate complex financial records and operational systems. Execute the risk based internal audit plan set and approved by the Head of Internal Audit.
Ensures maintenance of high departmental standards and quality of audit projects by:
Review and approval of internal audit programs and time budgets;
Implementation of policies and establishment of procedures covering the scope of audits;
Review and evaluation of work papers of completed projects to be certain that adequate documentation has been gathered and that the work papers document and provide an adequate basis for reporting;
Review of draft internal audit reports in connection with work papers to assure full and complete reporting in a professional manner prior to approval by the Head of Internal Audit.
Manage the implementation of the internal audit programs for the following areas:
Financial auditing programs - Responsible for reviewing and appraising the soundness and adequacy of internal accounting controls, determining to which extent assets are properly accounted for and safeguarded from losses and misuse and establishing the reliability of accounting data maintained in the books and records.
IT systems auditing programs - Responsible for reviewing the information technology systems and activities which convert, process, store, and transmit data accurately and completely, in an efficient fashion, with reasonable provision for security and backup of data and data processing assets and recovery in the event of loss of either.
Operational auditing programs - Responsible for reviewing and determining the extent to which the Sunbulah’s policies and procedures are followed, and evaluating these policies and procedures regarding adequacy of their design to accomplish the objectives of the operational area.
Investigate and recommend action to be taken when there are weaknesses in internal controls, compliance with policies and procedures and accuracy of financial information.
Work in close cooperation with the external auditors and any special auditors, so as to complement the audit activities and avoid duplication of effort.
Identifies and analyses causes of uneconomic and inefficient practices in assigned areas of responsibility.
Identify and assess alternatives, which might yield desired results.
Lead fraud investigations cases, if any, that are identified within Sunbulah and report findings to the Head of Internal Audit.
Performs other duties as assigned.
