Main purpose of job
To ensure that the company meets its performance targets through the
development and maintenance of information systems.
Main responsibilities
1. Develop and maintain the company’s information systems to
ensure that they support the attainment of business objectives.
2. Develop and maintain the information systems budget to ensure
that expenditure is accurately forecasted and kept within agreed
limits.
3. Introduce all necessary security measures to ensure that data
systems are secure from data loss or misuse.
4. Monitor all key management systems to ensure that any prob-
lems are rapidly dealt with and any defects remedied.
5. Provide any required management information to assist with
effective decision making.
6. Develop systems as necessary to meet changing business needs.
7. Provide training and advice as required to users of information
systems to ensure that they make the best use of those systems.
8. Manage systems projects to ensure that results are delivered
within agreed timescales and budgets.
9. Maintain an awareness of developments in the information
systems field to ensure that the company continues to follow best
practice.
10. Direct and control information systems staff to ensure that they
are appropriately motivated and trained and carry out their
responsibilities to the required standard.
