Main purpose of job
To design and implement computer programs, and modify existing
programs, to meet identified user requirements and to improve the
efficiency and effectiveness of the company.
Main responsibilities
1. Analyse user requirements and identify programming solutions
using a range of tools such as flow diagrams, decision trees etc.
2. Develop detailed specifications for program requirements.
3. Design and implement programs, or modify existing programs,
to meet users’ requirements and to improve the efficiency and
effectiveness of working processes.
4. Test programs and make any necessary modifications to ensure
that they operate effectively.
5. Draw up all required support documentation for programs to
ensure that users are able to operate them correctly.
6. Provide technical advice and guidance on programming matters
to colleagues and system users.
7. Keep up to date with developments in programming to ensure
that the company continues to take advantage of new ideas and
developments.
