Job Summary:
Provide support and assistance to speech-language pathologists in their daily clinical duties. Help prepare therapy materials, tests and equipment for immediate clinical use with patients followed by the cleaning of all items as required. Liaise with other KFMC departments which complement speech-language pathology services such as sterilization and X-Ray Actively collaborate with the healthcare/educational team to meet patient care objectives, service delivery outcomes and system improvement objectives.
Principle Duties:
1. Integralmember of the healthare team.
2. Management of assessment / therapy tools and or toys to be used in the communication and swallowing disorders outpatient clinics on a daily basis.
3. Management of inpatient swallowing assessment therapy bags.
4. Liaise with the CSSD department and infection control team for the required instrumental swallowing
assessment.
5. Responsible for preparing and cleaning instruments used in speech-language therapy sessions including but not restricted to: Naso-metre, Stroboscope, computerized speech lab, and FEES.
6. Management, scheduling and material preparation for Modified Barium Swallowing Study (MBS) procedure
protocols.
7. Management of disposable itemsdispensedto patients.
8. Assist clinicians in ongoingtherapy session as required.
9. Constructtherapy materialsunder the guidanceand direction of clinicians.
10. Assist in the maintenance and availability of departmental forms in clinics and in the Resource Room
Educational and Experience Requirements:
BA (in Special Education, English Literature, Education, or any Humanitarian arts studies) - NO experience required
2 Yrs. Diploma - NO experience required
1 Yr. Diploma - minimum of 1 yr. experience required
High School - minimum of 3 yrs. experience required
