Position Main Objective:
Responsible for managing the transportation unit. Hires, trains, and supervises employees and Drivers scheduling of shipments.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Oversee transportation Unit, including its assets and employees.
• Ensure customer goods move from warehouse through the supply chain to the end user.
• Complete up to date knowledge of local transport, safety, motor and Trucking rules and regulations
• Manage a team of drivers to transfer stock to branches and to clients.
• Responsible for the maintenance of the fleet (Reefer unit included)
• Responsible for having all the fleet legal documentation up and running
• Responsible for maintaining the annual Fahs for the fleet.
• Maintain a delivery schedule for Private customers and arrange the appointment for GOV bodies.
• Maintain inter-branch schedule
• Responsible for the GPRS system.
• Responsible for planning and scheduling the mobilization of additional fleet during pick season
• Responsible for the 3PL contracts and their negotiation
• Responsible for negotiating the best coverage with the insurance company regarding our cargo.
• Calculate accurate of load arrival times and truck movement.
• Develop and maintain an accurate record keeping system (km, fuel, maintenance, hours..)
• Manage drivers and hiring plan
• Proper handling of emergency cases
• Establish quality transportation services.
• Manage performance of employees with emphasis on productivity, efficiency, and service delivery.
• Lead all distribution and transportation planning and strategic activities.
• Performs other duties and takes responsibilities as assigned.
