- DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Obstetrics & Gynecology Senior Registrar shall be accountable to the Consultant to whom she/he is assigned for fulfilling the obligations which are common to and shared by every doctor working in the hospital and carrying out his/her patient care duties and to the Section Head of the Department for his/her duties related to supervision and education of Residents. Duties shall include:
- Carry out in patient and out – patient clinic duties including emergency calls as assigned by the consultant, in accordance with his approved clinical privileges.
- Administer the day-to-day duties of and supervise Residents and Interns assigned to the consultant, on behalf of the consultant.
- Assume responsibility for the timely completion of medical records and other medical reports, in accordance with the hospitals standards for patient medical records.
- Participate fully in the hospital and the department quality assurance program, including the infection control and utilization review programs.
- Participate in the hospital medical education program as required.
- Participate in and/or actively support the conduct of approved research projects
- Assist with the furtherance of post- graduate training of Residents.
- Take his/her turn on the duty roster.
- Share actively in patient & family education in collaboration with all related other healthcare givers.
- Participate in patient safety and family education program.
- Comply with the standards laid down by the Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI) and Joint Commission International Accreditation Standards (JCIA), performs the duties necessary to support and achieve accreditation.
- Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Through the chain of command and/or occurrence variance report, identifies any occurrence not consistent with the operation of the hospital or standard of service for patients, employees or visitors and situations that put patients, staff or visitors at risk for injury or other harm.
