Duties and Responsibilities:
5.1. Abides by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules and Regulations of the Medical
Staff and those specific to the department.
6.2. Provides the highest attainable standard of medical care for the patients for whom
he/she is responsible.
6.3 Carries out full range of clinical duties in the intensive care unit (NICU) , nursery , the outpatient
clinic and Emergency Room , as assigned by the consultant neonatologist in accordance with
individually approved clinical privileges.
6.4 Participates in the on-call duties as required by the department.
5.5 Teaches staff assigned for training purposes, and participates with the Director of Pediatrics in
planning a program of career development for trainees.
6.6 Participates in the improvement of quality of patient care (Total Quality Management
Program, Quality Assessment lmprovement Program) as applicable.
6.7 To report and discuss all unusual findings, complications or alterations in the management plan,
with the consultant/senior registrar.
6.8 Fulfills the requirements of the Saudi Council for Health Specialties with regard to
continuing medical education.
6.9 Participates in and/or actively supports approved research projects.
6.10 Deputies for his superior as required
6.11. Participates in the forward planning, and further development of the department.
6.12. Serves on hospital committees as requested.
6.13. Participates in the Major Disaster Plan of the hospital, as indicate.
6.14. Performs other Applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her
knowledge, skills and abilities, within the hospital andlor affiliated medicalfacilities.
6.15. Attends the Department Continuing Medical Education Program.
6.16. Shares workload in his specialty during absence of his colleagues.
5.17. Aquires a valid certificate in Neonatal Resuscitation Program( NRP).
