Duties and Responsibilities:
3.1 Abides by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules and
Regulations of the Medical Staff and those specific to the department/division.
3.2 Pre-operative assessment of elective surgical patients.
3.3 Participates acute medical intervention in the hospital, which are:
3.3.1 Emergency situations including airway management
3.3.2 Acute decomposition of Medical patients.
3.3.3 Follow up of post operative surgical patients.
3.3.4 Any patients with fluid management issues including difficult vascular
access.
3.3.5 Cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
3.3.6 Acute pain management.
3.4 To cover theatre duties as assigned. To attend to emergencies when they occur or
free up the consultant to attend to emergencies.
3.5 to respond to any adverse occurrences e.g. injuries, falls, sudden illnesses etc.,
suffered by patients, visitors or staff.
3.6 Provides the highest standard of medical care for patients for whom heishe is
responsible.
3.7 Carries out full range of clinical duties as assigned by the Chief of Anesthesia in
accordance with individually approved clinical privileges.
3.8 Participates in the on-call duties as required by the department.
3.9 To contribute to quality improvement, risk management initiatives and policy
development so that the overall Anesthesia service is of the highest quality and
reflective of best practice.
3.10 To assist in the education and research program, colleagues and staff.
3.1I to participate in work related projects at PSAFH.
3.12 To act and behave professionally and perform one's duties in a manner that
optimizes patient care and protects and enhances the reputation of PSAFH. To
adhere to hospital policies and procedures e.g. JCI, Code Blue, Infection Control
etc.
3.13 To acquire and maintain a valid certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support
(ACLS).
3.14 To comply with Health and Safety Regulations , ensuring safe working practices
in a safe working environment.
3.15 Participates in Major Disaster Plan of the hospital, as indicated.
3.16 Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her
knowledge, skills and abilities, within the hospital and/or affiliated medical
facilities
