Duties and Responsibilities:
3.1 Abides by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules
and Regulations of the Medical Staff and those specific to the
department/division.
3.2 Provides the highest standard of medical care for patient for whom
he/she is responsible.
3.3 Provision of service to Intensive Care Medicine in keeping with the
strategic direction of the Department of ICU.
3.4 Provision of a consultative service as required.
3.5 Manage, as required, patients in Intensive Care, as deemed necessary.
If appropriate, Intensive Care work may entail, in liaison with the
Director of lntensive Care, participation in an Intensive Care Unit rota.
3.6 Participates in the improvement of quality of patient care (Continuous
Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Programme) as applicable.
3.7 Fulfils the requirements of the Saudi Council for Health Specialities
with regard to continuing medical education.
3.8 Provision of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation to the staff.
3.9 Participate on the emergency ICU duty rosters of the PSAFH.
3.10 Strives to improve his clinical expertise as well as standard of practice
with regard to morbidity and cost effectiveness.
3.11 Panicipates in the forward planning, and further development of the
department.
3.12 Serves on hospital committees as requested.
3.13 Appropriate cover of other Consultants in the department, during
holiday, sickness and other approved absence.
3.14 Develop and collaborate with others in clinical or other research as
appropriate to the specialty on a local, regional and national basis.
3.15 Hold a leadership role in shaping policy in the Hospital with regard to
the management of ICU services, in line with best practice and
International accreditation standards.
3.16 Be easily accessible to clinical staff in person or by phone during
normal working hours to advice on the treatment and management of
patients.
3.17 Be familiar with the day to day security of the work area to which
assigned, with particular awareness of fire regulations and security
arTangements.
3.18 Keep up to date with all relevant mandatory training for the
department.
3.19 Participate in development of and undertake all duties and functions
pertinent to the Consultant's area of competence and in line with
policies as specified by the Employer.
3.20 Provide, as appropriate, consultation in the Consultant's area of
designated expertise in respect of patients of other Consultants at their
request.
3.21 To participate in clinical audit and proactive risk management and
facilitate production of all datalinformation required for same in
accordance with regulatory.
3.22 To participate in and facilitate production of all data/information
required to validate delivery of duties and functions and inform
planning and management of service delivery.
3.23 Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of
his/her knowledge, skills and abilities, within the hospital andlor
affi liated medical facilities.
