JOB PURPOSE:
Carry out safety inspections, investigations and conduct safety audits, induction and training in order to create safety awareness and ensure a safer working environment for Company and contractor staff.
JOB CONTEXT:
The job holder works under the guidance and supervision of the Supervisor, Safety. The job holder keeps pace with OSHA standards and updates and international safety specifications including any local requirements. Additionally the job holder is required to work within the Company safety policies, procedures, and standards at all times.
COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal:
Supervisor, Safety daily for directions, instructions, follow-up and new ideas.
Superintendent, SH&E formally on a weekly to monthly basis to submit analysis and reports.
Engineer, Safety as needed to discuss safety suggestions and ideas.
Superintendents and Engineers of Operations and Maintenance as needed to discuss safety compliance reports or incident follow up.
All new recruits and staff for induction or training.
External:
Safety Officers of contractors and Project Managers on an as-needs basis to discuss safety violations or compliance with safety procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
Minimum Qualifications:
University degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Industrial Management or equivalent.
Minimum Experience:
4-6 years’ experience of working with safety systems, ideally in a heavy industrial or utilities environment.
Prior experience of conducting safety investigations and developing potential corrective actions.
Prior experience of conducting safety induction training to internal employees and contractors.
