- Review and quality assure all services and work-products delivered by the department/unit in accordance with established policies and procedures
Devise and improve operational procedures and policies in line with corporate and strategic guidance
Deploy allocated resources for optimal performance and provide feedback to the VP/GM/Chief Officer on resource requirements
Monitor staff achievements, perform periodic performance appraisals, and provide guidance or coaching to direct reports in performing their delegated duties
Ensure that all direct reports acquire the competencies for effective performance in their roles, through appropriate training and professional development
Review regular performance reports prepared by direct reports and identify issues for resolution or escalation
Ensure the performance of duties and conduct of staff are in accordance with the departmental/unit business processes and operating procedures
Optimize the use of available resources across the unit in carrying out assigned duties, to ensure work meets agreed standards for timeliness and quality
Apply legal policies and apply or adapt standard/template letters or contracts governing employment, sales, franchising, collections, and other issues
Represent the organisation and negotiate to reconcile assigned cases with regulators, clients or brokers
Escalate complex legal issues to the Legal Manager for recommendations, guidance or external advice
Collaborate with concerned departments (e.g. HR, compliance, client owners and/or the care unit) to prepare cases
Develop legal opinions, correspondence, and non-standard contracts, as required for the case at hand, and submit for approval by the Legal Manager
