ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for ensuring that repair jobs are carried out completely and correctly by mechanics in accordance with Business Unit guidelines and regulations
• Performing regular internal quality measures
• Responsible for operational and traffic safety of customers' vehicles within the framework of the repair work to be performed
• Technical support to mechanics in preparing diagnostics and performing difficult repairs
• Leadership, instruction and motivation of the employees who report to him
• Ensuring flawless work quality by means of suitable workshop equipment, test instruments and methods
• Ensuring an efficient information centre for all productive staff
• Planning and carrying out training and further education measures for mechanics and industrial apprentices (JLR Service training programme)
• Checking that hazardous substances, waste and disposable materials are handled and stored correctly in accordance with waste disposal regulations
• Conclusion of disposal contracts with appropriate companies, and checking of compliance
• Monitoring of compliance with environmental and health and safety regulations
• Monitoring and organisation of cleanliness and tidiness in the service area
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
• Organising regular staff meetings
• He checks that time recording is correct on orders and on daily or weekly work sheets, provides support for the technicians via technical resources when problems arise, is responsible for the workshop and monitors it.
• He ensures that the personnel requirements necessary for perfect operation of the standby and emergency services are guaranteed.
• He will report to the Service Manager on any disciplinary/staff related issues.
• He advises the Service Manager in evaluations of the service personnel in relation to performance and conduct, and also makes suggestions to the Training Manager regarding further professional training for the service staff.
• He will attend regular department meetings and take a pro-active approach.
• He recommends tools and equipment and makes proposals to the Vice President, Aftersales for the annual investment plan.
• He will keep up to date with technical information and will attend training courses in-house or overseas as needed.
