Jobs Research Supervisor, Safety - Industrial Security Jubail - Marafiq in Saudi Arabia
JOB PURPOSE:
Develop and Implement comprehensive incident prevention programs to eliminate or minimise the potential threats to safety and promote an incident free and safe environment.
The job holder works under the guidance and directions of the Chief, Safety. The Job Holder has to ensure compliance with international standards e.g. OSHA and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), European standards and all local standards e.g. High Commission of Industrial Security (HCIS) and related rules and regulations. The job holder works within established company safety policies, standard operating procedures and standards.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Direction of Subordinates:
Organise and supervise the activities and work of a small team of subordinates to ensure that all work within a specific area of safety activity is carried out in an efficient and procedurally compliant manner.
Policies & Procedures:
Communicate the requirement of operational procedures and instructions to subordinates and monitor their adherence so that work is carried out in a controlled manner.
Safety :
Ensure that all relevant safety procedures, instructions and controls are adhered to so that the safety of employees and quality of documents and procedures compliance can be guaranteed.
Plans and Budgets:
Assist the Superintendent and Chief of Safety in collecting information on safety programs from benchmark companies e.g. SABIC about market practices or practices from Internet to help the management in developing safety plans and procedures.
Safety Procedures:
Identify potentially hazardous areas or jobs and develop update and revise safe procedures which will eliminate or prevent accidents.
Monitoring of Safety Procedures:
Inspect, Audit and Monitor and measure the effectiveness of implementation of safety procedures in order to ensure compliance with safety procedures, standards and guidelines.
Safety Awareness Programs:
Advise department managers on implementation of safety awareness programs e.g. Competition, Safety Talks (10 minutes), posters, leaflets, handbooks, etc in order to build awareness of safety culture.
Communication:
Frequently communicate with line management on observations, findings, recommendations and guidelines to be implemented to support a safe working environment.
Safety Performance Reports:
Prepare monthly safety performance reports to all employees to update them on the status of safety statistics and key performance indicators so that they can improve their attitude to safety.
Incident Investigation:
Participate as a member on Incident Investigation teams to find out the root cause of the incident and provide recommendations to prevent recurrence.
Safety Requirements:
Identify Safety requirements by survey of risk areas and develop safety guidelines and safety equipment to meet the threat or requirement.
Safety Library:
Update the Safety Library with International Standards e.g. OSHA, NFPA, British Safety Standards, Saudi Standards set by the High Commission of Industrial Security (HCIS) in order to keep abreast of changes to these standards which need to be incorporated into Company’s Safety programs and Standards.
Safety Plans:
Assist the Superintendent and Chief of Safety - Loss Prevention in developing annual safety objectives.
Contractor Safety Plans:
Review and measure contractor’s project safety plans prior to start of work in line with Company’s safety plans, objectives and standards.
