JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for developing and participating in the development and integration processes and opportunities that meet business needs across the organization in the area of power and energy ensuring new business and market share growth in the Energy markets by using a variety of methods and techniques.
JOB CONTEXT:
The jobholder is primarily accountable for considering new Power and energy business areas into which Marafiq may enter. This includes increasing the geographical coverage for the provision of existing services (not only the expansion of the existing Yanbu and Jubail industrial areas but also growing Marafiq to become a national or regional utilities supplier following its strategic positioning regime) and considering additional services which Marafiq may provide within its existing geographical scope or moving into entirely new economic sectors.
Similarly, in terms of the sectors in which Marafiq has a commercial presence, this is not limited to the supply of utilities; although medium term expansion is likely to be through offering synergistic services to existing customers, this offering will broaden to take the organisation into completely new economic sectors.
Once potential business development routes have been identified, the jobholder is accountable for assessing the impact of the initiatives on the organisation from a financial, operational and technical perspective. Job holder has to create Whitepapers, business case and Financial models to assess and evaluate the opportunity feasibility. However, these evaluations, after review by the President and other members of the Executive Management Team, require approval from the Board of Directors before any further action can be taken.
COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal:
Manager, Business Development on a weekly basis to report progress versus departmental targets and to discuss any pertinent issues.
Executive Management Team members when required in order to present potential business development initiatives/business plans for their consideration.
Other functional and departmental managers on an as-needs basis to obtain information relating to preparation of business plans and to check assumptions behind business models.
Ad hoc liaison with other employees within the Business Development department in conducting analyses and feasibility studies concerning new business proposals.
Representatives of the Customer Service function (and the Customer Satisfaction department in particular) to discuss additional services that may be offered to existing customers.
External:
Various power business associations and institutes to obtain economic and business information relating to the preparation of business plans.
Representatives of potential power and energy business partners to discuss the nature of cooperation.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
Minimum Qualifications:
University degree in a commercial or engineering discipline.
MBA from an internationally-recognised business school preferred.
Minimum Experience:
8 years in the power and energy sector or a relevant industrial sector .
3 years’ experience in a business development position within the utilities sector or a relevant industrial sector.
Experience of business modelling at a corporate level.
