Job Summary:
Provides nursing care to patients within her assigned clinic.
Helps assure that preventive and promotive care is provided and taught, appropriate follow-up is initiated and complied with, and continuity of care for patients and their conditions is achieved through the best use of resources available, in collaboration with her clinic physician, through patient interview and review of patient’s medical records.
Works in compliance with the nursing department and hospital policies and procedures.
Works under the direction and supervision of the Head Nurse in coordinating unit activities and implementing unit goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity of cultural differences when interacting with the patient and the colleagues.
- Identifies obvious patient problems, symptoms, behavioral changes. Identifies and interprets common variables.
- Performs a variety of supportive and technical nursing skills and utilizes a range of equipment, supplies, medications, and other modalities in carrying out and implementing specific medical orders for administration of medications and performance of specific treatments, monitoring techniques and other diagnostic, therapeutic, and supportive measures.
- Recognizes and reports abnormal laboratory test results.
- Initiates and performs a range of nursing measures based on the patients’ needs, which promote restoration of patients’ optimum health and physical well-being.
- Is familiar with, participates in, and promotes all aspects of outpatient care policies and procedures, especially those related to infection control, quality assurance, and patient safety.
- Responsible, together with his/her physician, for proper documentation of patients’ identification, clinical data, and implemented medical treatment procedures.
- Responds appropriately to emergency situations.
- Anticipates and evaluates consequences of nursing activity.
- Reports and documents significant information through established verbal and written process.
- Demonstrates understanding of effective communication process to colleagues regarding patient care and management by observing proper channeling of communication.
- Assists in the formulation standard hospital policies and procedures, and continuous nursing care quality improvement. Supports the nursing department and the hospital administration in the implementation of the same.
- Participates in all aspects of the total nursing program which includes staff orientation, continuous quality improvement and continuing education.
- Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills, and abilities.
